About Us

About Us

Our church's mission statement is
'Working together to celebrate and share God's love with YOU'.

South West Hants Group - Logo SmallWe are one of three non-conformist churches in the town and are part of the South West Hants Group of churches. This Group comprises three URCs in Southampton and two ecumenical churches, one in Lord's Hill, Southampton and one in Valley Park, Chandlers Ford. More details can be found elsewhere on the website. We are also part of the Wessex Synod of the URC which stretches from Banbury to Lyme Regis. More importantly, ours is the local church for people of different Christian traditions who come to us because of the friendly welcome we give to everyone. We believe that this diversity is one of our strengths
Church PhotoOur worship also reflects this diversity with traditional services interspersed with ones which have a more modern feel. Our new minister, Revd. Tim Searle, was inducted on 16th August 2008 and we are anticipating that he will continue in this vein. Our services are very much Bible-based, provide us with teaching and challenge us to share the love of Jesus in the work and service we undertake in our local community.
We believe in sound Biblical teaching and we are encouraged to discover through worship and house groups the context in which the scriptures were written and their relevance for us today.
We have a Church & Society Group which brings to our attention matters on social justice, debt relief and the environment. We also have a World Church Group which keeps us abreast of issues in the wider church worldwide. Both these groups challenge us to take action with speakers and fundraising events.
Our premises are used extensively by Uniformed Organisations and there is a separate Scout building within the grounds. During the week and in school term time, a pre-school playgroup meets every morning and an ‘after school’ club operates until 6pm. All our buildings are disabled-friendly and a club for disabled people meets in our main hall every fortnight.
In all our worship and other activities we try to put into practice our mission statement by sharing God’s love with everyone.

A Warm Welcome Awaits You.
